PFL Filipino wealthy football club owners

According to several sources, Thomas Vivian Montet, the owner of Manila Montet, is reportedly worth around $25 30 million USD which would mean that he is a billionaire in Philippine pesos.

He’s not the only wealthy club owner in Philippine football; clubs like Dynamic Herb Cebu FC (owned by Ugur Tasci who is according to our sources the most wealthy football club owner of the country) and Stallion Laguna FC (owned by Ricardo Penson) are also backed by affluent businessmen.

And we have to keep in mind that of course all these owners are insignificant when compared internationally but they are still very significant locally.

As fans, we get why the club isn’t in the PFL right now.

PFL’s current way of doing things doesn’t seem to fit the vision they talk about: real fan-first football, visibility, community. That said, we can’t help feeling it’s a missed chance. for both Manila Montet and PFL.

The PFL loses out by not having a financially stable, ambitious club involved, and Manila Montet misses the platform to push things wider. We’d like to see Manila Montet prove they can compete at that level, not just talk about changing the game.

On this page, we’d still prefer to see them join the PFL one day, even if we understand and support the club’s choices. The Manila Montet Challenge Series is still a great project and we’re happy it’s happening but maybe the future could bring both PFL and the Challenge Series for our club. 🤔
